Next is Republic Square with the Independence Monument, topped by the Golden Man, a Saka warrior, a replica of the country's best-known artifact, and the day ends at Kok-Tobe: the cable car takes you up the hill in 7 minutes to one of the city's best viewpoints. A walk through First President's Park, a vast green area with fountains, long avenues, and a viewpoint with good mountain views. In the first half of the day, stop at the Independence Monument with the Golden Man, a Saka warrior, a replica of one of Kazakhstan's best-known archaeological finds. Later in the morning, stroll through Republic Square, the central square with the Independence Monument topped by a replica of the Golden Man, and views toward the snow-covered peaks of the Alatau. In the second half of the day, take the cable car up to Kok-Tobe (1070 m), Almaty's signature viewpoint.
