Kapchagai, the yacht club and the Ili River

Relax by the Kapchagai Reservoir, an artificial sea covering 1850 km² with sandy beaches and warm water. An hour from Almaty, and you are already on the beach. In the first half of the day, head to the Kapchagai yacht club for sailing and motorboats on a body of water rare in Central Asia. Later in the day, take a walk along the Ili River, which flows into Lake Balkhash. A slow-moving sheet of water, sandy banks and a sunset that washes everything in pink.
